Africa & Middle-East | Participatory study on the representations conveyed in media and public discourses on migrations

CFI has had a unique mandate to support the media sector in developing countries. The study (available here) is part of a forward-looking approach aimed at assessing the relevance and timeliness of developing, in conjunction with the French Development Agency (AFD), projects to strengthen and support the media in order to provide “informed” and “balanced” coverage of migration issues.

Red Mangrove was commissioned to cover 15 countries in Africa and the Middle East: Burkina Faso, Comoros, Ivory Coast, Gambia, Guinea, Jordan, Lebanon, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, Senegal, Togo and Tunisia. The team composed with national and international consultants, drew up an overview, by country, of migration and its representation in public discourse, particularly in the media and on social networks. It also analysed by country, the representations of migration in the media through the point of view of media professionals and migrants
